Dr. Vacanti queries tumor proteomic and transcriptomic data sets for expression patterns in metabolic enzymes indicative of altered substrate selection or pathway reliance. Hypothesized metabolic adaptations are examined in cell line knock-out models using stable isotope substrate tracing and explored as potential targets for tumor therapy.
